Pipe Facing Machines (PFM) |
| The pipe facing machine ensure a precise and consistent
narrow-gap bevel for perfect welds.The machine mounts to the pipe end, square with the
pipe axis, by means of hydraulically operated shoes. A rotating faceplate, fitted with as
many as six cutters, machines the desired bevel on the pipe end. Major projects normally require the use of two PFMs. The units are mounted on sideboom tractors or A-frames. A facing operation is completed in two to five minutes, depending on pipe wall thickness and skill of the operator. Hydraulic power for each unit can be supplied by diesel or electric drivers. They can be tractor mounted on the ground in proximity. |
